Manta Like a Bird

Manta Like a Bird - Mexico, 2008

This position of the manta ray looks almost like a flying bird. A remora fish is attached to the lower side of the manta for a free ride and for protection. Mantas are the largest species of rays. They feed fish and crustacean larvae, and on plankton. See also Soaring Manta and Under a Manta for more information about mantas.
