Blue Ribbon Eel

Blue Ribbon Eel - Indonesia, 2009

Ribbon eels in the juvenile stage are black with a yellow dorsal fin before turning blue. In this adult male stage they are about 2 feet long and about the an inch in diameter at the widest. Later in life they become female and turn yellow. During the day they are most often seen with their head sticking straight up out of a hole.
