Trumpetfish and a Fish Trap

Trumpetfish and a Fish Trap - Indonesia, 2009

Trumpetfish are often found suspended head down among soft corals, being very well camouflaged. The other position is usually totally horizontal. They can move very fast or stay seemingly motionless. In this image however the trumpet fish was moving down slowly in front of a fish trap that was not in use. The trap was about 6 feet long and 3 feet high and deep. It was hand made by Indonesian fishermen. See also Under a Table Coral and Trumpetfish in Black Coral.
