Right Angle Christmas Tree Filaments

Right Angle Christmas Tree Filaments - Honduras, 1999

These tree shaped filaments are both part of one organism. They are the feeding aparatus of a worm that is embedded in the hard coral. They are about 1 and 1/4 inches high and are very sensitive to water motion. I have to be very careful approaching or the filaments pull back in the hard coral.
